Creating and Editing a Prospect

Add or edit a prospect in the ONIT app, set their teams and owner, and learn why both matter.

Written by Tyler Baker

Most organizations send their prospects to ONIT straight from their own internal system, so prospects show up automatically and stay in sync. Some organizations also let certain users create and edit prospects directly in ONIT. If you see an orange + on the Prospects page, this article walks you through it.

Don't See the + Button?

That's normal. Creating and editing prospects in ONIT is only turned on for some organizations, and sometimes only for admins. If your organization sends prospects from its internal system, add or update the prospect or follow there, and the change will come through to ONIT automatically.

You can still upload video to any prospect, no matter where the prospect came from. See Uploading and Watching Prospect Video.

Creating a Prospect

  1. Open the menu and tap Prospects.

  2. Tap the orange + in the lower-right.

  3. Under Prospect, enter their first and last name. You can also add an email and phone number.

  4. Under Profile, fill in the details:

    • Prospect Owner — the scout responsible for this prospect.

    • Team — their primary team, such as their high school or college.

    • Secondary Team — a travel or summer ball team, if they have one.

    • Position, Grade, Draft Year, Jersey Number, and Class.

  5. Tap Save.

Fields marked Required must be filled in before you can save.

Editing a Prospect

  1. Open the prospect's page.

  2. Tap the ⋯ menu in the upper-right, then Edit Prospect.

  3. Update any field, such as their team, grade, or draft year.

  4. Tap Save.

You'll only see Edit Prospect if your organization lets you create prospects in ONIT.

Why Teams Matter

A prospect's games come from their teams. Their primary team's schedule shows up on their profile automatically. When you add a secondary team, like a travel or summer ball team, that team's games are added to the prospect's schedule too, so you can see them play all year long.

Why Prospect Owner Matters

Prospect ownership shapes what you see on the Games page:

  • Area scouts — the Games page shows games for the prospects you own, so your view stays focused on your area.

  • Cross-checkers — the Games page shows games for every prospect in your organization.

Anyone can see every game at any time. On the Games page, tap Filters and choose All games.
